The Big 4-0!

Yep...that's right...this April 18th I turned 40!  I'm OK with it too.  I feel great, and don't look so bad either (if I do say so myself).  I'm in probably the best shape of my life physically (and working out hard to get even better).  My kids are at wonderfully fun ages and my marriage has only gotten better with time!  I have a great life and am in a really great place.  So far my 40s are pretty great (all 10 days)!
Of course my birthday isn't just one day.  It's usually a birthday week. This year it was more like a birthday month.  A short month, but definitely more than a week! I did the shopping day and the cookie decorating class, a mani/pedi day and then Sunday the 14th my hubby and kids made me crepes for breakfast and steak for dinner followed by cheesecake, singing "Happy Birthday" and opening presents. Among them a surprise iPad Mini. Also See's from Sophie and earrings from Avery.

Then is was time to pick up grandma from the airport and jet off to Maui.  I figured if I had to turn 40 I might as well do it somewhere tropical.

Strangely...there were penguins at our hotel!
Beautiful flowers everywhere
The ocean front cabana where I got a massage!
Kaanapali Beach
Gorgeous hotel grounds

A stop on the road to Hana
A cool black sand beach in Hana
My final dinner in Maui.  Roy's is now a birthday tradition.
Lance and I had a great trip.  We had nothing planned except one night at a luau and the ocean front massage for me.  The rest of the time was just did whatever we wanted.  We slept in every morning.  Went to the beach, snorkeled with giant turtles and awesome fish.  Ate our way around the island (won't forget Leoda Kitchen and Pie Shop anytime soon!) and just had a great time with absolutely no responsibilities!   It was the perfect way to begin this new decade!
