The Inner Sanctum

We have a date!  April 5th is my shopping date.  Lance took the day off so I could go kid free from store open to store close.  I'm very excited.

Now having said this... since spring is next week and it appears like we just might have spring weather that stays, I went through my closet and got my clothes organized.  And here it is...
One word comes to mind... full!  This is actually what I would call my "transitional" wardrobe, meaning a few cool weather things are still out.  In another month or so when it starts getting hotter, I'll put those things away too and then maybe I'll have more room.  But for now, this closet is a great reminder of why I am doing my no shopping goal!

Here is my shoe collection.  It's definitely overflowing. I'm completely out of storage room. I guess it's a good thing I've given away so many pairs of shoes in my lifetime!  I can't imagine where I would put them if I hadn't done that.

This is my jewelry, scarf and hat storage.  Last year I had to find a better way to organize things.  I just couldn't even see what I owned.  This what I came up with and I really like it!  Very accessible.

So now I need to figure out what I actually need to buy on April 5th.  I don't want to go crazy. I don't want to spend all the money I've saved by not shopping this year in one day.  That would defeat a lot. We shall see.  I've been known to do a lot of damage in one day of shopping!

Lance's Birthday Week

Lance turned 45 years OLD!  I can't believe it.  Oh well... I guess it happens to the best of us (and he is the best of us for sure!).  He took the whole "birthday week" idea quite literally this year.  20 years of being married to me has rubbed off.  :)

Unfortunately, he was in training on his actual birthday, March 6th, so he couldn't take the day off, but we made the night very special for him.

We made homemade pizza and cherry pie.  He opened his presents and was pretty surprised with at least one gift...a gift card to Bass Pro Shop to buy a rifle.  Oh brother!  I know he would love to have the lifestyle of a person who can go wild boar hunting, but he just doesn't. But, having said that, I am a firm believer that birthdays are made for getting whatever gifts you want no matter how silly they may seem to other people (wives included).  So he wanted a rifle...he got a rifle.  Plus a stunt kite, a gift card for his favorite burrito place, and a myzone monitor to make sure he burns all those burrito calories off!
Entertaining themselves at Bass Pro Shop while Dad picked out his gun!
We went that very night so Lance could use his gift card. He was so happy!

Another highlight of the week was going to dinner and to play bocce at Campo di Bocce.  We had a great time and look forward to going back again (even though we lost to our friends).

Very tricky, those bocce balls.
We used the tape measure for this.  They were exactly the same distance!
Our bocce opponents!

But words can't express how much I love and appreciate my husband.  He is my best friend, an amazing husband and the best dad my girls could hope for! He told us we spoiled him that last week, and I'm so glad because he deserves it!
