And The Home Projects Begin...

Actually, I'm pretty sure they began the week we moved in.  Downsizing has been challenging to say the least!  We lost a room we had in our old house which was used as the office, guest room, music room, craft room and room where we put everything else that didn't have a room.  That was a big loss! So whereas in my old house, I actually had bare walls and empty drawers, in this house I am using every square inch of space!

Luckily the laundry room in my new house is a little bigger than the laundry room in my old house, but this is what it looked like when we moved in.

Basically, bare bones... a shelf and a place for your washer and dryer.  Absolutely no storage!  And storage is king these days!

The original layout was for a side by side washer and dryer.  Come to think of it, when my house was built you couldn't buy stackable washer and dryers.  But since you can now... we did.  It freed up a lot of space for us to add the storage we needed.  And this is what we did:

This big set of cabinets holds kitchen overflow and craft stuff.  The laundry basket holds, well...laundry sorted and ready to be washed.

These baskets are (believe it or not) all my cookie cutters organized like they've never been before!

This set of cabinets is laundry and cleaning stuff.

My laundry room is very functional now and pretty which is a bonus since I tend to see it a lot!

Next project...the garage!

It looks really good. I have that same 3-bin laundry sorter and love it!
