We had talked about moving closer to Lance's work for a couple of years, but nothing ever seemed to workout to make that happen. Then at the end of last year it all just fell into place. Housing prices came back up a bit in Tracy and they weren't too high in the Bay Area (relatively speaking of course. It is the most expensive housing market in the country). We decided that after the holidays we would put our house on the market and see if we could make the change. But for some reason we couldn't shake the feeling that we shouldn't wait, that we should do it right away. We tried to shake it, believe me...but in the end we gave in and put our house on the market. About four weeks later we had sold, purchased a new place and were in a packing frenzy.
We had 17 days to be out of our house and that put moving day 6 days after Sophie's baptism, 9 days after Lance and my 20th anniversary and 5 days before Christmas! Stressful for sure. Especially since the closing on our new house got held up and we ended up spending the weekend before Christmas in an Extended Stay America in San Ramon! Christmas presents were lost somewhere in the postal forwarding process and that caused some last minute scrambling. Miraculously though we were able to pull it all off and have a nice Christmas!
So now we have started a new chapter in our lives. It's exciting and scary all at the same time. We are getting settled in, although losing about 800 square feet of house has turned out to be pretty tricky! But we are building shelves, adding cabinets and finding a way to make it work and make it our own. And since I am committed to keep up with my blogging again, I will be posting pictures as the progress occurs! Slowly...but surely! Stay tuned....
