I'm still in shock! I can't believe it, but I actually did it... traded in my Acadia for a MINI VAN!!! I swore I'd never own one. We'll I never actually swore I wouldn't, but I certainly never wanted to own one. Mini vans were fine for other people, but I was always going to be an SUV mom. I found the perfect 8 passenger car and it seemed to fit our family great! I had every convenience on the car that GMC offered. It was awesome!
So why the switch? Well really just because we had so many problems with our lovely little car that Lance was starting to get annoyed. And truthfully, the problems we had were pretty major for the lack of miles it had on it, and when the water pump went out last month, it kind of sealed the deal! I was looking at SUVs to replace it, but Lance was kindly urging me to look at mini vans. I kept an open mind, but there were some conditions. Whatever car we bought was going to have all the same options as my Acadia. Once you have a DVD player, navigation, remote start, etc., etc. you really can't go back. That would just be un-American! I liked the body style of the Toyota Sienna the best out of all the mini vans and so last Saturday we drove to the Toyota lot, picked out the car we liked and made the switch!
I have to admit I was a little sad to see my Acadia go. I'm still adjusting to driving a mini van, but I do have to say this mini van is not your mother's mini van! Some of the features I get in this car almost make the switch completely worth it. Listen to this... no key! That's right...push button start. The key fob just has to be in your purse to both unlock the doors and start the engine. I can't tell you how many times I've been walking to my car digging in my purse for my keys. Or holding a baby and a bag and wondering how I'm ever going to get my keys out even if I know where they are! Those days are a thing of the past. I merely walk up to any door I choose, put my hand on the handle and the key fob sends a signal to the doors and they unlock! So far...the best feature ever!
The inside is really nice. It has 8 seats but the 2nd row middle seat is removable and storable and so for now we just stow it and it makes getting in and out really easy for the girls. Plus it is super roomy and feels really open.
There's a million other features I could point out that are really cool, but I think I'm writing this mostly to help myself come to grips with my new lifestyle. So even though it is true what Lance was once advised, "you can't fake the funk in a minivan," I am getting used to it and I think the convenience is slowly, but surely winning me over! And on days when it feels way to soccer momish, I'll just open the sunroof, blast the XM radio and pretend we went with the Land Rover instead! :)
